Friends of Dorothy and Bob Deavenport

Friends of longtime Martin County residents Dorothy and Bob Deavenport established the Bob and Dorothy Deavenport Scholarship in 2003 for the benefit of generations of high school graduates to come. In 1981 Mr. Deavenport was appointed Martin County Judge, elected to the office in 1982 and served for 18 years. He officially retired in 1988 but continued to work as administrator for the Martin County Community Fund (MCCF) as a volunteer until his death in 2004. Mrs. Deavenport currently resides in Abilene, Texas. As community leaders, the Deavenports sought to improve the quality of life for their Martin County neighbors.

Impact

Stanton and Grady high school graduates receive financial assistance from the Deavenport scholarship to pursue their educational goals at their chosen community college or university.
